The Gacha system, known as “Wishes,” is how you acquire new characters and weapons in Genshin Impact. While it’s a core monetization aspect, the game is generous with its premium currency, Primogems, allowing even free-to-play adventurers to build powerful teams. Understanding how the Gacha works and how to efficiently earn Primogems is essential for all players.
Spinning the Wheel: The Gacha Mechanics
Strategic wishing can expand your roster.
- Primogems: The primary currency for Wishes. Earned from quests, exploration, events, daily commissions, and Spiral Abyss.
- Intertwined Fates & Acquaint Fates: Primogems are converted into these “Fates” to perform Wishes. Intertwined Fates are for limited-time character and weapon banners, while Acquaint Fates are for the Standard Banner.
- Banners:
- Limited Character Banner: Features a new or rerun 5-star character and three featured 4-star characters.
- Weapon Banner: Features two powerful 5-star weapons, typically best-in-slot for the featured character.
- Standard Banner: Features a permanent pool of 5-star characters and weapons.
- Pity System: The Gacha has a “pity” system. For limited banners, you are guaranteed a 5-star item within 90 wishes. If your first 5-star is not the featured character, the next 5-star is guaranteed to be them (known as “50/50” and “guaranteed” pity).
- Soft Pity: The chance of getting a 5-star significantly increases around 75 wishes.
- Starglitter & Stardust: Unwanted 3-star weapons give Stardust. Duplicate 4-star/5-star items give Starglitter. These can be exchanged in the Paimon’s Bargain shop for Fates, characters, or weapons.
Manage your Primogems wisely, understand the pity system, and make informed decisions on which banners to wish on to build your ideal team in Genshin Impact.
