Getting Started: Your First Steps on the Battlefield
Jump into Valorant’s tactical action with these essential tips.
- Practice Range: Head here first! Familiarize yourself with weapon recoil, spray patterns, and basic Agent abilities. The shooting range helps you warm up your aim.
- Choose Your Agent: You start with a few unlocked Agents and can unlock more by playing. Each Agent has a distinct role and unique abilities (more on this later). Pick one that aligns with your preferred playstyle.
- Unrated Matches: Play Unrated matches to learn maps, practice communication with teammates, and get a feel for the game’s economy system without the pressure of ranked play.
- The Buy Phase: At the start of each round, you’ll have a “Buy Phase” to purchase weapons and abilities. Learn which weapons are effective at different ranges and how to manage your credits.
- Map Knowledge: Study the maps. Learn common angles, plant sites, and rotation paths. Map awareness is as important as aim.
- Crosshair Placement: Always aim at head height, even when moving. This gives you an advantage in firefights, allowing for quick, lethal headshots.
Valorant has a steep learning curve, but consistent practice and strategic thinking will quickly improve your game.
